David Fraser – lighting designer
David is very excited to be part of such an important project as HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, and to also be back at Theatre Network again. Previous designs at the Roxy include the set and lighting for MIDLIFE, PLAYING BARE, and PILEDRIVER!, and the lighting for SUBURBAN MOTEL, and A GUIDE TO MOURNING. As a freelancing designer, David has worked throughout the country collaborating with such companies as Western Canada Theatre, Fringe Theatre Adventures, Theatre North West, Buddies In Bad Times Theatre, Vertigo Theatre, Workshop West Theatre, and also for Concrete Theatre in which his set design for RICE was nominated for a Sterling Award last season. David has also been the resident lighting designer for the Brian Webb Dance Company for the last three seasons, and has presented work at the Canada Dance Festival in Ottawa, and the Dancing on the Edge Festival in Vancouver. David is a graduate of the University of Alberta.
Kristopher Heuven - drag coach
Kristopher has been doing drag for 4 years now, performing in such venues as The Roost, Hotel MacDonald, Sidetrack Cafe, Westin Hotel, A-Channel, as well as in cities from Vancouver to Toronto to Las Vegas. He has also been an Apprentice Stage Manager with The Citadel Theatre and Fringe Theatre Adventures, as well as Stage Managing with The Brian Webb Dance Company, National Ice Theatre of Canada, Rowebot Theatre, Ad Hoc Theatre, and the U of A Drama Department. Kris received his diploma in Theatre Production from Grant MacEwan. He is happy to have been involved in this project and would like to thank the "Moe" for her constant support.
Ian Jackson - digital media design
Ian Jackson is pleased to be part of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Ian has
been a multimedia projection designer for exactly one year now. This newly
expanding field that includes video, animation and still images has drawn
Ian away from his usual job. He is best known as a photojournalist. His list
of credits include, EXCAVATIONS at Theatre Network, KAFKA'S AMERIKA and BREEDER
at Northern Light Theatre, BENEATH THE DEEP BLUE SKY and TRANNE OF GREEN
GABLES at the Edmonton Fringe. Ian would not be able to function as a human
being without the love and support of his wife Gina.
Rachael Johnston - Yitzhak
Rachael's recently returned from a trip to the land of the rising sun where
she worked very hard teaching English to sweetie pie Japanese children in
an attempt to work off her student loan....the loan has decreased significantly
and Rachael has had her first real taste of being "the foreigner" and
experiencing a culture unlike anything she has ever before been exposed to...A
learning experience to be sure! Now she is returned from abroad and ready
to step into the role of Yitzak where she will no longer be "a broad"!
Rach is ready to rock and roll with the warm and wonderful crew that is Theatre
Network and the Angry Inch!
Corinne Kessel - Kwang-Yi (piano/keyboards)
Corinne is tickled pink to be working on HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH with
Theatre Network and such a talented group. Born and raised in Edmonton, Corinne
received her BMus and MA in Music from the University of Alberta. Corinne
has worked as a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and musical director across
Western Canada. Favourite credits include: I LOVE YOU, YOU'RE PERFECT, NOW
CHANGE (Barestage Theatre), ILSA, QUEEN OF THE NAZI LOVE CAMP (Workshop West),
FUSION 2001 (Catalyst Theatre), BARBIE SCREAMS (Victoria and Vancouver Fringes).
Corinne was last seen at Theatre Network in Ghost River Theatre’s AN
EYE FOR AN EYE in February. Her introduction to theatre was as Producer,
Musical Director and Performer on the Sterling Award winning fringe production,
THE BLACK RIDER, which toured to Edmonton, Winnipeg, and New York.
Kim Mattice Wanat - vocal coach
Kim is a performer, teacher and director. Her performance experience includes roles in musical theatre, oratorio and operatic productions. Credits include lead roles in THE FANTASTICKS, OLIVER!, SOUTH PACIFIC and PASSION. She has been a freelance performer in BACKSTAGE BROADWAY, a touring production of BROADWAY MUSICALS THROUGH THE DECADES and WIND, WOMEN & SONG a female quartet which performs classical music and released a CD entitled LA DOLCE VITA this past September. She is presently an instructor at the University of Alberta in the Drama Department and regularily works as a musical director and director of opera and musical theatre productions. Most recent credits include Aaron Copland’s THE TENDERLAND, and Menotti’s AMAHL AND THE NIGHT VISITORS at The Winspear Center. This spring she will direct the Canadian Premiere of LITTLE WOMEN for Opera Nuova. In 2001, she was honored with the YWCA - Woman of Distinction in Arts and Culture Award and this year was awarded “Woman of Vision” recognition from Global Television
